The History of Ordo Domiens.
“On the battlefield in Kassel, in 1945, I was wounded and lingering close to death. As I opened my eyes for what I believed to be the last time, there was a great turbulent wind and a dark shadow cast over the entire battlefield. This was my Awakening. At this moment, I saw a glorious owl hovering just above the land. Its claret-hued wings stretched for miles along the battlefield and its eyes shone like polished moldavite as its gaze centered on me. A fleeting look of surprise flashed in its eyes before my mind went dark.”

This event would set into motion the raison d’être of one man who will try to change the world.
After his Awakening, The Sagittarius quickly returned to his home in Texas. He tried to start his life anew, but the question of his vision on the battlefield echoed through his head in an endless loop. He began researching and discovered that there had been other sightings such as his in Iceland many years ago. He traveled there to see if he could finally find some answers to what he had seen that day.
Through much movement and exploration, the first pages of what will be known as the “Tome of Light” were discovered buried deep in the earth. The Sagittarius would return to his Texas home with the pages in tow, to translate them, hoping it would lead him to the answers he was still seeking.
The Sagittarius deciphered the pages, which led him to a second monumental discovery in 1953. Deep in the network of the Catacombes de Paris, the skull of the First Believer was discovered. Inside the crown of the skull, were beautiful etchings of shapes and characters of unknown origin. It is said that through this token; The Sagittarius was at last able to elicit a beginning to the answers of his vision. The Gods spoke to him and said, “Bring us the virtuous so they may worship us and we will embrace you in Umbra.”
The Sagittarius is again longing for his home, so he returns to Texas and begins spreading the verity of what he discovered. His family and childhood parish were quick to believe his claims. His fervor and passion were undeniable and with this, the first iteration of The Sleeping Order aka Ordo Dormiens, was founded in 1955.
Now that The Sagittarius’ followers were firmly rooted in the beliefs of Umbra and the Tome of Light, they started constructing a temple in 1957. The temple, known as Everlight, was to be a place of introspection, reflection and the sight would host many rituals and ceremonies. It officially opened its doors in 1960 for all believers, who are now known as “The Disappointed, The Barren, The Broken.”
By 1963, the Order embarked on a mission to the mountains of Chile, and there, at the base of Cerro del Azufre, they unearthed another Key. An amulet which was later named The Star of Umbra. Upon returning to Texas, The Sagittarius learned the amulet allowed him to perform magic. The Gods that spoke to him through the First Believer assured him that his power and influence would grow with each incantation.
Yet another mission was planned and executed in 1971, where a group of followers traveled to the Pacific Ring of Fire and disinterred the third Key, a sword named Shadow Protector. With three Keys in the Orders hold, the Gods commanded The Sagittarius to form a small circle of fervent followers and assign them the protection of these artifacts. The Sagittarius chose five of his most devout and zealous disciples to serve as The Tabernacle.
In 1979, the successor of The Sagittarius was born, and they designated him The Gemini. The Gemini will spend most of his young life at The Sagittarius’ knee. He will be taught and shown all that The Sagittarius knows. When The Gemini is two years old, the fourth Key is discovered and brought up from the ocean floor by a group of marine archaeologists off the coast of Oslo, Norway. The Order purchased this golden hued crown from a private benefactor and it is still under the protection of The Tabernacle.
The Gods instructed The Sagittarius to forge a ring of gold as the fifth and final Key. He started this process early in 1986 and finished by the end of that year. The growth of numbers and size of the Order marked the next 8 years. In 1994, The Sagittarius writes the next pages to be added to the Tome of Light.
The Sagittarius announced that the door to Umbra would be opened on New Year’s Eve of 1999. The Sagittarius would not live to see his God’s plan come to fruition.
On New Year’s Eve of 1999, The Sagittarius, The Gemini and The Tabernacle joined in the ritual center of Everlight to open the door to Umbra. In a blast of fire, the opening failed and with the loss of the beautiful structure of Everlight, The Sagittarius and all five members of The Tabernacle were consumed in Umbra’s divine fire. The Gemini was the lone survivor and the rising scion.
The following day, salvation was born to the Order. She is called The Witness and she alone will be the testimony after “The Disappointed, The Barren and The Broken” have entered the door to Umbra.
The second iteration of Ordo Dormiens would begin in 2000, with The Gemini at the helm.
The Order then fell silent once again…
